Eye serum, your antidote to tired looking eyes

Just like they say, “Eyes are the window to the soul”, the under eyes are the window into your morning routine! If you struggle with dark circles, puffy eyes or annoying wrinkles and lines that never go away, chances are, your under-eyes are lacking some much-needed attention as you get ready for the day. But don’t worry, we have the answer!

A good eye serum is essential in any skincare routine, but it’s particularly a game changer if you struggle with a consistent sleep schedule or high stress.

Why use an eye serum?

It’s true there are a lot of skincare products on the market, but despite being one of the most important, an eye serum is so often overlooked. Eyelid serums are lighter in texture than an eye cream or gel and are highly concentrated, providing deep, intense hydration and helping to repair the skin around the eyes. The secret to fresh and bright eyes lies in a killer eye serum like the Boost Lab Bio-Active Eye Reset Serum, scientifically developed using the latest eye serum Gold Standard peptides.

Eye Reset Serum

The natural ageing process can cause wrinkles, lines, dark circles, and puffy bags to form around our eyes. But reduced sleep and busy schedules also take their toll with skin showing fatigue and stress. A good, rejuvenating eye serum can reduce these signs by stimulating energy in cells for increased oxygenation and improving the outward appearance of skin.

Want to get the most out of your eye serum? We put together 5 other tips you can use in the morning to reset those tired eyes. The best part - most of the steps can be done in minutes to get you out the door in no time.

#1 Ice, Ice Baby!

Applying a cold compress to the undereye region can help reduce swelling and shrink dilated blood vessels which give you that bluish-purple discolouration in the eye contour. Simply wrap a few ice cubes in a clean washcloth and gently apply to the eyes for a few minutes. Lay back and close your eyes or apply the ice in slow, circular motions. This step works well in conjunction with the eye serum as they both provide an instant hydration boost.

Gently icing the under eyes can help drain toxins and have a tightening effect. If you want to avoid melting, another popular method is putting a silver spoon in the fridge overnight and placing the spoon onto the eye contour for the same effect. It can be quite relaxing! Kick your feet up for 5-10 minutes while you drink your coffee and let the ice do the hard work for you.

#2 Facial massage!

A facial massage has been used by many traditional societies to wake your under eye skin up and reset oxygen flow for a brighter complexion. This really simple 30-second massage is super relaxing and we recommend pairing it while applying your serum to give your skin the best chance to soak it all up.

  1. Using your index or middle finger, gently tap the skin under your eyes from tear duct to brow bone. Don’t pull or tug at the skin.

  2. From the brow bone, repeat the same motion above the eye back to the tear duct. This will help get some blood flow happening. Repeat step one and two twice.

  3. With your middle fingers, firmly press the pressure points where your eyebrow starts on either side of your nose and hold for a few seconds.

  4. Then, with the opposite hand to brow, gently rub each eyebrow upwards three times with your fingers pointed towards the nose.

  5. Following to the temples, help the fluid drain from your face by gently tapping down each side of the face and down the neck.

Feeling refreshed? Stimulating blood flow to the eye contour is super important in getting rid of puffy eyes and dark shadows.

#3 Get that Vitamin C!

Vitamin C is a nutrient that can give you that extra bright and wide-awake boost you need. It’s responsible for making red blood cells and transporting oxygen around the body. Taking an oral Vitamin C tablet or gummy found at most pharmacies or health stores can help improve the absorption of iron by converting hard-to-absorb forms of iron like plant-based iron into the forms your body needs and loves. Keeping your iron levels up is super important to feeling strong and awake when you get up, and reducing signs of tiredness and fatigue around the face.

#4 Try a skin brightener!

When applied topically, Vitamin C also acts as a skin brightener. It accelerates the production of collagen and elastin, the two key structural components for a firm and even complexion. Brightening the rest of the complexion will help reduce the contrast of dark under eyes and work as a team with a quality eye serum. It is a potent antioxidant and targets dark spots and pigmentation so is a preferred ingredient in anti-aging cosmetics! In fact, daily application of the Boost Lab Vitamin C Brightening Serum saw better results in just 28 days. Just apply before your moisturiser in the morning and massage 2-3 drops into the skin for a beautiful, subtle glow.

#5 Get a good night’s sleep!

Now, of course, this might seem easier said than done, but getting a full night’s sleep of 7 to 8 hours will give you the best place to start to allow your eye serum to restore rejuvenated and rested looking eyes. Sleep deprivation can cause your skin to appear pale, making the dark circles more obvious. If you constantly have swollen eyes in the morning, sleeping at an angle may help reduce the pooling of fluid under your eyes that causes puffiness.

Getting enough sleep means your body is able to do its job and repair what it needs for the next day. During sleep, your skin’s blood flow increases and rebuilds its collagen, meaning it attempts to reduce wrinkles, fine lines and premature aging. First and foremost to look less tired is being less tired! An eye serum will only enhance this.
